A proper welcome now awaits our drive-in guests. Fresh, clean fencing now borders your transition off of I-80 and onto a newly realigned University Avenue. University has not just been repaved, but shifted to the north to open up views of the Bay and create future park space along the water. A new welcome sign and landscaping courtesy of Caltrans will soon beckon you and your guests to explore. Our Marina's location due east of the Golden Gate has always been a perfect gateway to the Bay, and we're excited that you can now experience the improved Marina area the moment you exit at University Avenue.
Our $8m Marina Streets project offers smooth, beautiful roads, fresh curbs and gutters, and ecofriendly pervious parking for our slip holders and visitors. New paving, roundabouts, landscaping, and security measures are in place and have improved the Marina experience for all our users.
Four boater-only restrooms encircling our harbor have been renovated with fresh fixtures and finishes, gated entrances, and improved shower rooms. Restrooms are cleaned and restocked daily, and are conveniently located next to the dock entrances throughout the Marina.
The South Sailing Basin is home to a brand new ADA-compliant aluminum gangway, and two new aluminum docks. Nearly 40 finger docks have been rehabilitated or replaced throughout the Marina, and over 800 new cleats have been installed marina-wide. Gangways have been repainted, and main walkways have been stabilized.
The San Francisco Bay Trail’s newest addition in Berkeley is an extra wide promenade with benches, drinking fountains, wide bike and pedestrian paths, new public restrooms, a rinse off shower, a new parking lot, landscaping, and an expanse of green turf for watersports rigging and rinsing. Ten new bicycle lockers are located across the street by the bus stop. The improvements provide true placemaking at the sailing clubs and small boat docks in the South Sailing Basin.
